Being Sylvia Plath

and you thought i was kidding
spiraling deeper into the cave of no return
i am stuck in the misty mold of despair
and you look at me from your tainted glass window
all high and mighty and superior
and here i am
ten feet below you
doing the dirty work that will never noticed
toiling in the gravel of mindless chores that will never be finished
and how can you think i am happy?

you are the god
who deserves the comfort of fluffy down pillows
but i am the goddess who deserves so much better
than an arrogant god who forgets the dues he must pay his bride

and maybe I am afraid that someday I will be hopeless enough to stick my head into the oven and be forgotten by the life that I toiled for

defeated by my demons

destroyed by my spirit

birthday montage

Wala lang, was cleaning up some files and thought of posting some pics from my bday.

'Twas just a normal day...went out with a friend and when i came back home i found bok still mixing the meringue for the sans rival. that was his gift to me...he thought of baking me a sans rival cake. What a bright idea huh? He was doing the meringue mixing the whole afternoon while i was gone (in the process consuming more than a dozen eggs and lots and lots of sugar), so finally we went out for a bit to buy ... a mixer! And stayed up past midnight trying to bake that darn cake. Well, it's the thought that counts right? The cake was super sweet, literally. When we let our frisbee teammates taste it, walang masyadong takers. Haha. And I was eating 2 slices a day of the cake for three days straight (sino pa ba uubos, e 2 lang kami), until finally I was "rescued" by Jo offering to fix up the sans rival cake. So from this sans rival experiment...came out 2 ref cakes and more than a dozen cookies. And they tasted great! Ang galing! :)

The Righteous Strikes Again

From inq7.net:

And this from Yahoo!News...
"But in the Philippines — with Asia's biggest Christian population — the Manila City Council passed a resolution banning the movie, effective Friday.

The movie "is undoubtedly offensive and contrary to established religious beliefs which cannot take precedence over the right of the persons involved in the film to freedom of expression," the resolution said."

What the *@#$? And ang OA nila ha...IT'S JUST A MOVIE!!!!

The Race to Everest

A friend of mine forwarded me the link to the ABS-CBN sponsored Mt. Everest team. While browsing through the site, I decided to look for info regarding GMA-7's sponsored guy, Romy Garduche as well.

And look what I found here.

Garduce's Feats

Garduch, who began mountaineering in 1991 as a hobby, has personified the local mountaineer’s dream of making a mark in the 37-year Philippine climbing history.

“He (is showing) that an ordinary wage-earning man could go on and pursue a dream like this,” says (UP Mountaineer president Henry) Nakpil. “He did not wait for government support or private sponsorship to follow his program.”

Garduch shouldered his expenses in scaling three of the world’s highest peaks. In his Mt. Everest climb, the most daring, GMA 7 and the mountaineering gear manufacturer North Face support him.

In September 2005, he reached Tibet’s Mt. Cho Oyu, the world’s sixth highest mountain at 26,906 feet. This climb was recorded as the highest altitude a Filipino mountaineer reached.

Garduch reportedly shouldered the expenses, including his round trip fare of $2,000 (P100,000), for his New Year’s Day (2005) climb on Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina, the highest mountain in the Western Hemisphere at 22,831 feet.

Garduch previously ascended the 19,400-foot Uhuru peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa,
out of his own pocket, too.

Pucha, ito ba ang "ordinary wage-earning" man?? Waaa!!! Sana, ordinary wage-earning man din ako :)

And wait, I haven't commented on the divisiveness of these climbs. The original Team Everest was aiming for a 2007 climb to the Everest summit. Because of Garduche's bold claim for the title of being "first" to the summit, Team Everest was forced to field their own men and women earlier than their planned date. Haven't they heard of the cliche that it is the mountain that conquers the men, and not the other way around? Anyway, I really don't know the full story behind these actions, so I'll just leave it at that.

Being Married (a Saturday morning view)

It's been 1 month, 3 weeks and 4 days since the wedding (may countdown timer na gumagana, didn't count this by myself).

So what has changed?
  • I got myself a digital SLR I really couldn't afford (but it was on sale!)
  • I got myself a new bright yellow sort-of paddle bag. Haha.
  • Simot ang sweldo sa household expenses (and mga bisyo ko)
  • There's another blog somewhere out there with the housewife angsts (shy ako eh)
  • Marami pa rin akong gustong gawin sa buhay (parang dumami nga eh)
  • Parati pa rin akong late
  • I don't laze around reading the newspaper in the morning (wala na kc nagdedeliver ng dyaryo)...I laze around watching tv instead (while washing clothes and cleaning house)
  • I still procrastinate
  • Nothing has really changed

I remember watching a movie where someone said that power doesn't really corrupt, it just emphasizes what was there in the first place. Same thing with being drunk...you don't become who you're not, you just have that sense of liberty of doing what you want without thinking of the consequences. So what am I saying?

Marriage doesn't turn you into who you're not in the first place. You won't instantly become a caring, supportive wife/husband...although you'll be forced to because you're now responsible for the health and sanity of two people. And it's a symbiotic thing. Both of you "have" to be emotionally healthy. If the other person becomes severely insane and kills you...well that would affect yourself, wouldn't it? (ok, I may be watching too much of the Crime and Suspense channel)

O sya, I have to watch the aircon installation guys install the aircon (thanks sunlife folks!) Hmm...kinakalas pala ang aircon para install-in? Interesting...
