Apo Island, Dumaguete

Just an hour away from Dumaguete City (by bus and pumpboat). Diving galore! Wala lang nga akong underwater cam...hehe antayin ko magpost si Lala. =)

How to get there: From Dumaguete City, you can catch a Ceres bus to Zamboanguita, and from there walk to Matatapay Market and register at the pier. A boat good for 5 people costs PHP 1,700 roundtrip. You can also just hire a tricycle from Dumaguete City to the jump-off point. Travel time to the jump-off point from Dumaguete is 40 minutes.

Where to Stay: You can reserve at Apo Island Resort or Liberty's Lodge. Both have rooms good for two from around PHP 1100 up. If both are fully booked (like what happened to our trip), the locals can help you find a house to stay in the village. We rented ours for 700 a night (kasya kaming anim!).

Electricity in the island is only until 9pm. Another highlight: stargazing...

Things to do: Diving (schools of jacks! turtles! corals!). Snorkeling (corals! fishes!). Stargazing.
